The “Friends of BJP” programme organised at NMKRV college, Bangalore on 21st March 09, was very inspiring to begin with the “Eh Mere Watan Ke Logon…” song, a great tribute to the “Soildier”, as also the inspiring speeches of Shri. Anant Kumar, MP and Shri. Arun Jaitly, MP as also the conclousion with magnificiantly sung “Vande Mataram”. The highlight of the programme was “Nation First” and inauguration of this web site by Shri. Chandrashekhar, MP. I would like to state that when a boy in his late teens joins the National Defence Academy, his first day begins with the motto “Service Before Self” and lives up with it through his entire llfe (in other words he pledges to place his Nation first above any thing else and lives by the pledge). As a god gesture, and as a real tribute, in deed, to the “Soldier” the BJP should allot an MP ticket to a suitable ex-Serviceman aspiring to contest. This will also be in keeping with the choice of the karnataka people this year to choose the “Un- Known Soldier” as the best person of the Karnataka State. With due publicity, this act will be a great source of inspiration not only to the serving soldier and the veterans, but also to the youth to volunteer to join the Armed Forces, a matter of concern these days. The people of Karnataka will also hail such a decision. (Note: I am one of the aspiring ex-Servicemen, and have placed a request for Bangalore North Constituency on Shri. LK Advaniji’ portal and yet to receive a response.). Jai Hind, Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Vande Mataram

    Dear Moderator,

The following letter from our former President, I think, highly deserves to be on this portal for every Indian to read and emulate, enough to request you to please post it without delay, as you have done in my last post, mearly 6 hours ago about “Media”:

ALetter to Every Indian - APJ

APJ Abdul Kalam at SpeechThe President of India DR. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam ’s Speech in Hyderabad .

Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements?
We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck… But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary.. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

APJ Abdul Kalam at Speech1In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T.Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.

Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.
Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.

YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don’t work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?

Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - ‘YOURS’. Give him a face - ‘YOURS’. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don’t throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity… In Singapore you don’t say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn’t dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai . YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.

YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, ’see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.’YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, ‘Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so’s son. Take your two bucks and get lost.’ YOU wouldn’t chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand .
Why don’t YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don’t YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India?

APJ Abdul Kalam at Speech2In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan.
Will the Indian citizen do that here?’ He’s right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.

We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public.

APJ Abdul Kalam Wings of fireWhen it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? ‘It’s the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons’ rights to a dowry.’ So who’s going to change the system?

What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.

Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one’s conscience too…. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy’s words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..

‘ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY’

Lets do what India needs from us.

Forward this mail to each Indian for a change instead of sending Jokes or junk mails.

IS the UPA Government trying to Sabotage Ex-Servicemen’s Movement for “One Rank One Pay, (OROP)” ?

A Civil Writ Petition was filed purportedly in the Delhi High Court on behalf of two petitioners, a retired Central Govt Employee and a retired Army Major by Arun Maitri, Advocate. The Advocate, Mr Arun Maitri, an erstwhile junior of R.K. Anand, Advocate, who was indicted by the High Court for facilitating bribing of Prosecution Witness in the “BMW Case”, had obviously played foul by getting the Petition listed before Hon’ble Justice Ravoinder Bhatt, by misleading the ‘Listing Branch’. The Advocate knew fully well that it is the Central Administrative Tribunal and not the High Court that has the jurisdiction in the case of Central Govt. Employee. In the case of the retired Army Major the Division Bench earmarked for Armed Forces Matter has the jurisdiction. The Advocate was nearly censured by the Hon’ble Judge for his action. Immediately, another Advocate, MG Kapoor, a retired Lt Colonel, rose up to tell the Court that the Petition had been filed in collusion with the Govt with a view to sabotage the cause taken up by the Ex-Servicemen League, whose members are sitting in protest for over six weeks and some of them had also undertaken fast unto death earlier. Lt Col Kapoor further added that the Petitioner Army Major was being used as a cats-paw by the bureaucrats who are wanting to sabotage Ex-servicemen’s cause and Movement for ‘OROP’, as once the Petition is admitted, the Ex-Servicemen’s cause would go into ‘Cold Storage’ for decades which suits the bureaucrats and the Government”.

I request the BJP leaders to take note of this and hammer the UPA for being ungrateful to the ex-soldiers, who sacrificed their youth for the Nation, during campaigning. Jai Hind, Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Vande Mataram.

    LS Poll
    Soldiering on
Call to weed out criminals, corrupt
    Sarbjit Dhaliwal
    Tribune News Service

    Jalandhar, March 27
With regard to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, three ex- Army officer brothers, who served this country during the war in 1971, have given an unusual but inspiring call to their fellow countrymen. They have asked voters, especially the youth, to use their vote to elect honest, upright, transparent, visionary and clean politicians regardless their political affiliations.

Brothers are Col Hardev Singh Mann, Col Amarjit Singh Mann alias Jiti Mann, Leiut Col Mohinderjit Singh Mann, alias Mindi Mann, who, after retirement, settled in Chandigarh, Patiala and Delhi respectively.

The three bothers have urged that the politicians having criminal, dishonest and corrupt should be comprehensively defeated and thrown out from the political process of the country forever.

“During the war we saved this country from the external enemy by shedding our blood and sweat on the borders. And the time has come now to save this country from enemies within by giving them a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections”, three Mann brothers said, who as Army officers fought the 1971 War against Pakistan on different border fronts.

Speaking on behalf of all three brothers, Lieut Col Mindi Mann said the root cause of various problems being faced by the country was that many criminal elements had entered the political mainstream in the garb of politicians. Their only mission was to become rich, famous and power wielders. By winning elections they could use muscle and money power available for foul means. Such people were a blot on the very concept of the government, he said.

“Our father, late Gurcharan Singh, who had retired as an SP, died a proud man. He saw all his three sons fight the war against Pakistan in 1971”, said Mindi Mann.

“Ours is perhaps the only such example in the country. While the eldest of us- Hardev, led his regimental advance in the then East Pakistan, the second, the then Capt Jiti Mann, and myself served with Skiners Horse in the Shakargarh Sector on the Western front. We were engaged in a pitched tank battles in that sector”, he said.

Mindi Mann said his eldest brother Hardev, who was in Hudson Horse, a reputed regiment, was seriously hurt in the 1965 war in Sialkot Sector. “ “Our father at that point of time was the DSP at Moga and a police party led by him had shot dead five Pakistani paratroopers in an encounter on a canal side near Halwara. These paratroopers were part of a Pakistan taskforce and dropped to cause damage to Halwara airport,” he said. Manns are originally from Chak Number 97 village in Layalpur (now in Pakistan) but family shifted to Phumassi village, near Amargarh in Sangrur district during the partition.

Saving the country from internal enemies was equally important, Mindi Mann said.

Hosting Pakistani Flag and burning Indian Flag

A Kashmiri separatist leader burning the Indian Flag

    Indian Flag Burnt in Srinagar
Shame on Indian govtand Mediaalso for not making it Breaking News

The only country of the world, where one can dare to burn the national flag…

All these become the masala breaking news of Indian news channels:

    * If Tendulkar cuts the cake which is made to look like national flag, he is condemned.
    * If Mandira Bedi wears a saree with the flags of all the countries being portrayed on that, is made to apologies.
    * If one cop in Kolkata and one in Bangalore is terminated of his duties for throwing the Indian national flag on ground, by mistake.

    Then why double standards:

    * During the ongoing Amarnath Sangarsh, Jammuites holding the Indian National Flag and chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ are open fired by the J&K Police on orders from the Police Commissioner(belongs to kashmir). Peaceful protesters are killed.
    * Like in case of Amarnath case, people in Kashmir when want to get some demand fulfilled, protest by burning Indian national Flag, hosting Pakistani Flag and chanting ‘Hindustan Murdabad, Pakistan Jindabad’. But no body condemns. Infact, all such protest are followed by a team of union ministers visiting Kashmir and immediately sanctioning a few thousand crore rupees for Kashmiris.
    * Every year on 14th Aug (Pakistani Indipendence Day), Pakistani flag is hosted every where in Kashmir, including the govt. buildings and on 15th Aug, same people burn the Indian flag.

    This only happens in India!!!!
